Chesed In The Field (CITF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 by (Res.) IDF Br. General Bentzi Gruber.

CITF instills values of community and social responsibility in the hearts of thousands of IDF soldiers. The act of Chesed, of charitable giving, empowers these soldiers to maintain their moral compass as they strive to protect the State of Israel.

  • A monthly plane ride over Masada and the North of Israel: Special needs children from the surrounding area participate in a ceremony in which soldiers are awarded a certificate of excellence. Afterwards, Br. General Gruber, a licensed pilot, takes the children and soldiers on exhilarating plane ride. While this interaction is most definitely meaningful for the children, it is also a life changing experience for the IDF soldiers. Consequently, the soldiers are able to remove themselves from their daily routine; they are exposed to acts of kindness and patience, as well as laughter and humility. Thus, they are pushed to continue to develop moral integrity.
  • Annual festive Chanukah and Purim parties in renowned hospitals throughout the country involving both soldiers and patients
  • Loans provided to soldiers’ families who struggle and require support during their child’s military service
  • Distribution of Mishloach Manot (Purim baskets) to thousands of soldiers
